Bellanwila Rajamaha Vihariya
I spent Wednesday taking photos along the Seattle waterfront. But I played golf yesterday and didn't have time to work on them so today's post is from December.
Some of you know that I go to Sri Lanka to work for a month or two each year. When I arrive in Colombo, this where I stay for a few nights before I move out to the village. The chief monk here is a friend, adviser and supporter of my activities. He and the temple committee are the principal organizers behind the continuing village rehabilitation projects.
The temple has an ancient history but was lost to the jungle after the Portuguese occupation in the 1600s. It was rediscovered in 1850 and has been steadily refurbished since then.
