Starting to think about Memorial Day
From genealogical research we have found that our family has been in this country from at least the 18th century. We also found that some member of it has fought in every major conflict from the French and Indian Wars to the Persian Gulf, including on both sides of the Civil War. In WWII, my father and four of his brothers all served in the Navy at the same time. All five came home safely, in large part due to my grandmother's prayers. During the Cold War, I served on US Navy submarines from 1960 to 1968.
As we enjoy the holiday weekend let's not forget to think about the men and women who 'stand watch on the wall' and all those who stood there before them.
