Life on the Street
Devji Ratanshi Marg, Masjid Bunder (East),
In the 1990s, I traveled extensively and frequently throughout all of Asia as part of my job. Unfortunately, I was only taking "snapshots" at the time and only have a small handful of "photographs".
I was in the industrial technology business and between meetings with government officials, dinners with university and corporate presidents, countless factory visits and shared cigarettes with factory workers, I saw first hand the economic rise of India and China. But I also saw that relatively few really benefited from the reform and growth. At least now, however, there is more opportunity for most - - if they can claw through the corruption.
Retired now, I still travel to Asia every year on volunteer projects and scenes like the above are no less prevalent than they were then.
